The Area Manager is responsible for the profitable growth of revenue and market share across a defined international area. He/she drives the commercial and marketing strategy in close collaboration with headquarters teams and ensures optimal execution of activation plans with distributors and direct customers (grocery retail, organic networks) across multiple markets.

 

🎯 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commercial Development & Account Management :

  • Define and deploy the commercial strategy across each market within the area.
  • Identify and capture growth opportunities (new customers, new categories, product innovations).
  • Build and develop partnerships with:

Local and regional distributors

Grocery retail chains

Specialist organic retail networks

  • Negotiate commercial agreements (pricing, promotions, assortments, logistics terms) taking into account the regulatory and cultural specificities of each market.
  • Lead tender processes and product listings.

 

Business Planning & Performance Management:

  • Build the multi-annual strategic Business Plan and annual operating plan by market, by customer and by area.
  • Develop and manage the local Brand Plan in line with the international strategy.
  • Monitor KPIs: revenue, margins, numeric distribution (ND), market share, promo ROI, sell-in / sell-out.
  • Analyse performance market by market and implement corrective action plans.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management.

 

Marketing Mix Management (4Ps) :

  • Adapt and deploy the Product, Price, Promotion and Distribution strategy to local market realities.
  • Manage the marketing and promotional budget across the area.
  • Optimise promotional investments (mechanics, calendar, ROI).
  • Recommend assortment and pricing adjustments based on field insights and local competitive dynamics.

 

Internal Coordination :

  • Work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams including:

Marketing, Supply chain, Finance, Legal, Customer service, Regulatory & compliance (where applicable)

  • Ensure proper execution of activation plans across all markets.
  • Coordinate product launches within the area, integrating local regulatory requirements (labelling, approvals, etc.).

Market Intelligence & Insights:

  • Monitor and analyse the competitive environment across each market.
  • Identify local consumer trends (grocery retail, organic, emerging channels).

 

 

Profil

Education :

Master’s degree / Bac+5 (Business School or equivalent university background).

 

Experience:

  • 5 to 8 years of commercial experience in food & beverage or FMCG, including significant international exposure.
  • Proven track record in distributor management, regional grocery accounts and/or international export development.
  • Knowledge of specialist organic retail channels is a plus.
